Patrick Graham appointed head coach at Reno
LLANDILO, Westmoreland — Former Reno FC midfielder Patrick Graham has been appointed head coach of the four-time former Premier League champions a week before the start of the 2014-15 season, the club announced yesterday.
Reno FC executive Fitzroy Cooper confirmed that Graham, who recently returned from Germany where he underwent a six-month football coaching course, had been appointed to take over the team.
The appointment was confirmed late Sunday, the Jamaica Observer understands, and Graham took control of training for the first time yesterday at their Llandilo training base just outside of Savanna-la-Mar.
His assistants are to be named later, it is understood, but Machel Woolery, the track coach at Petersfield High, has been hired as the team’s trainer.
Meanwhile, Reno have sought to bolster their squad and have added several players, including Aldane Grant, who was part of the champion Montego Bay United team last season.
Romaine Lewis, who had a stint at Harbour View but played at Holland United in the Western Confederation last season, is also in the set-up, as well as striker Odean Smikle, formerly of Fraszier’s Whip in the St Catherine Major League.
The Westmoreland-based club will be returning to the island’s top club competition for the first time in three seasons after winning the Western Confederation Super League last season and were runners-up to Barbican FC in the Premier League play-offs.
Graham has had previous stints as the Reno coach and was in charge of ISSA daCosta Cup team Godfrey Stewart last year.
