Woman killed at Caribbean carnival in Boston
BOSTON, USA (CMC) — Police here say a woman was killed while marching in Boston’s Caribbean J’ouvert on Saturday morning.
The police report that they responded to reports of gunfire in the Dorchester neighbourhood of Boston shortly after 8:00 am and found 26-year-old Dawnn Jaffier suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.
Jaffier was marching in the J’ouvert parade for Boston’s annual Caribbean Carnival when she reportedly stepped off to the side of the parade and
was shot.
She was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
“One of our beautiful, productive citizens was lost to a senseless act of violence,” said Deputy Police Chief William Gross.
The police have charged Keith Williams, 18, of Dorchester, Boston with unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting.
