What We Loved: Oriental Ceremony Signature Treatment and the Hot Stone Pedicure
Trade in New Kingston’s blazing hot sun and traffic for an experience that will transport you both physically and mentally to a cool, calming place, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. You will forget where you were just moments before you entered the Spa at the Spanish Court Hotel.
The comfortable, quaint spa is naturally lit thanks to the French doors characteristic of the hotel, which are framed by white chiffon curtains locking the room in blissful serenity. Opened in October 2010 the Spa moved from the roof level of the hotel to the ground floor in September 2013 to better suit its local and international guests. Featuring two spacious private massage rooms and a fully equipped mani-pedi station, this spa in the middle of the business district gives you the privilege of feeling like a celebrity in a private luxury spa without having to leave the Corporate Area. “A lot of women come in during the workday for a quick mani-pedi,” shares receptionist Christina Riley. Women aren’t the only ones taking a long lunch for some pampering, as Christina reveals that the main clientele for massages are men. “They love the Swedish massage especially,” she says.
It comes as no surprise that both genders frequent this spot as the range of spa and salon services offered are nothing short of luxurious: from the classic Deep Tissue or Aromatic massages to a Sothys Mud Wrap. You can even add a touch of glamour to your usual mani-pedi combo by upgrading to a hot stone pedicure.
Specialising in massage and body treatments, the Spa invited us to demonstrate a brand new, complete massage therapy named the Oriental Ceremony Signature Treatment, executed by their very own experienced spa therapist Andrea Johnson using Sothys brand products.
This incredible massage is not only super-relaxing, but also has a number of benefits as well, including improved circulation, stress reduction, not to mention its dramatic nourishing power on the skin as it becomes infused with Provitamin B5 which prevents dryness, softens and hydrates. “My skin feels like melted butter!” gushes Naomi. “After I showered off the scrub, I was like, is this really my skin?! I always loved hot stone massages, but this felt completely different; as if the stones were exfoliating my skin as well. Andrea has amazing hands.”
Naomi’s skin was left with a delicately perfumed finish, looking soft and supple with no oily residue or shiny appearance.
It was the perfect moment to take advantage of the Spa’s recommended hot summer shade ‘Butler Please’ by Essie and indulge in a hot stone pedicure. The summer’s almost over, but this pedicure and vibrant shade will make you want to show off your cute toes year-round.
