J’can golfer Brown tees off in Woodcreek Classic today
Jamaica’s rising golf star Wesley Brown begins his quest today for higher glory when he tees off in the Woodcreek Classic Tournament in South Carolina.
Brown got his invitation to the four-day event following his sensational win in an event on the Carolina series — National Golf Association Tour.
He is now competing in the Pro Series, which comprises the best players on the NGA Tour.
This series has the standards and guidelines that exists on the Professional Golf Association or Web.com Tour
The NGA Tour consists of several tours (Pro Series, Carolina Series, Winter Series) and
Brown, who is employed at the Sandals Golf and Country Club, currently plays on the Carolina Series
The Pro Series is the top level on the NGA Tour.
The top 10 money earners on the Carolina Series gets automatic qualification into the Pro Series, which is what Brown is trying to do.
Brown is currently 21st on the money list on the Carolina Series and just need to finish in the top 5 or better in his remaining events.
Sandals Resorts has been Brown’s sponsors for the past two years.
The golfer arrived in Carolina on Tuesday and had two great practice rounds. He expressed confidence in his game and was chomping at the bits to get started.
“My game has improved and I have developed more patience,” Brown noted. “Now its just a matter of execution.”
The local ace will return to the Carolina series once he finishes up the event this weekend, where he will play in four other events.
