FALMOUTH, Trelawny — THE Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is reporting that it has repaired 623 defective street lights in the parish of Trelawny since the start of the year.
According to Marvin Campbell, JPS parish manager for Trelawny and St James, over 50 of these street lights were repaired in the Lorrimers Division of the parish during this month.
He said the utility company has been partnering with parish councillors to ensure that the “most critical lights” are in working condition.
In a Jamaica Observer West article, published on August 14, last week, Independent councillor for the Lorrimers Division in Trelawny, Paul Patmore, expressed dissatisfaction over the JPS’s failure to repair in excess of 30 of the roughly 210 streetlights in his division, which, he claimed, have been out of service since January.
But, Campbell noted earlier this week that many of the street lights were repaired ahead of the Observer West’s story.
