Goals galore in Sandals Business House football
There have been goals galore in the Sandals St Ann/St Mary Business House Football League, with Couples Tower Isle, paced by a hat trick from Oshane Dunkley, registering the biggest win in a 6-1 drubbing of Sandals Golf and Country Club over the weekend.
In other matches, last year’s beaten finalists Beaches Ocho Rios edged Golden Eye Villas 3-2 in a five-game thriller; Gran Bahia Principe stopped Margaritaville MoBay 3-0, while defending champions Couples Sans Souci were held to a 1-1 draw by St Ann Development Company.
In the feature matches of the round Police fought gallantly but lost 0-1 to Gran Bahia Principe at Drax Hall playing field.
In a game in which Gran Bahia were expected to dominate, the lawmen fought tooth and nails, and but for poor finishing would have been on the score sheet.
And highly-touted RIU Ocho Rios were held to a goalless draw by a vastly improved Sandals Grande Riviera aggregation.
RIU dominated the first half action, but Sandals Grande gradually found their strides and but for a sloppy display by their strikers, could have clinched a memorable victory.
Fourteen teams are taking part in the competition and are divided into three zones, with the top two teams from each zone moving into the quarter-final play-offs.
Sandals Regional Public Relations Manager Ian Spencer said he was pleased with the standard of play so far and the improved condition of the playing surface. He, however, urged the officials to ensure matches begin on time.
