The Games got underway yesterday with an opening ceremony and competition in 17 disciplines are on the schedule today.
Wynter will be the first in action when he competes in the second heat of the men’s 100m backstroke, swimming from lane one at the OSC Natatorium and will hope to make it to the semifinals later in the day.
He is also entered in two other events — the 50m and 200m backstroke later in the competition.
The men’s beach volleyball team will open their Pool C play against Brazil at Sports Park Beach Volley Venue and will face Congo tomorrow.
Twenty athletes, including 15 in track and field, are down to represent Jamaica at the event that ends August 27.
