Hi-Pro All-Jamaica Open Tennis Champs serve off today
THE 2014 staging of the Hi-Pro All-Jamaica Open Tennis Championships begins today at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston, and will run through to next Saturday.
This year’s tournament has a total prize money of $500,000. The winner of the men’s singles will receive $150,000, runner-up $75,000, losing semi-finalists will collect $20,000 each, while the quarter-finalists will pick up $10,000 each.
Meanwhile, the winner of the women’s open singles will walk away with $40,000 with the runner-up getting $20,000. There will also be prize money for the winner of the men’s and women’s doubles who will receive $9,500 each.
There will also be other prizes for individual performances such as in the junior veteran’s doubles 35 and over, senior veteran’s doubles 45 and over and veteran’s doubles 50 and over.
Matches scheduled for 9:00 am today in the first round of men’s open singles are Javell taking vs Jeremy Mills; Dane Vernon vs John Yjon; Kristopher Martin vs Alex Gordon.
At 10:00 the men’s open singles continues with Jermaine Case taking on Gregory Spencer; Dwayne Lue vs David Goldsmith, and Kyle Martin up against Jovaughn Mullings.
There will be several other singles matches both in the men’s and women’s open singles.
