Cops, prisoners injured in St Elizabeth crash
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Four police constables and two prisoners were injured when the pickup in which they were travelling flipped over on the Pepper main road in St Elizabeth on Monday.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:00 pm when the vehicle was headed for Santa Cruz from Mandeville. The vehicle reportedly swerved to the right and hit an embankment after the brake was applied.
According to the police, the Pepper Main road, on the border of Manchester and St Elizabeth, was wet at the time of the accident.
By midday yesterday, three of the constables who were a aboard the vehicle and the two prisoners were discharged from Mandeville Hospital where they were taken for treatment.
The fourth constable, who received head injuries which left him temporarily unconscious, remained in hospital up to late yesterday.
