Big win for St Ann in Kgn Wharves U-15 Cricket
ST Ann posted a big win yesterday against St Mary by nine wickets at Boscobel Sports Club.
St Ann won the toss and invited St Mary to take first strike. They made a paltry 69 all out with Christlyn McKenzie, 30, top scoring. Kevorn Hinds (5 for 10) and Blaine Rose (3 for 23) took the bulk of the wickets.
St Ann replied with 70, losing just one wicket. Andre Smiley, 42 not out, scored the most runs, while Tajae Coke took the lone wicket for 25 runs in four overs.
In another match, which was played at Jamalco Sports Club, Clarendon defeated St Catherine by 76 runs after winning the toss and making 173 all out.
St Catherine was under pressure from the beginning, losing wickets regularly, eventually ending at 97 all out. Only Shaquille Craig, 14, and Shane Anderson, 13, got into double figures. The wicket-takers were Mario Duncan (3 for 26), Romain Silva (2 for 18), and Shavon Anderson (2 for 19).
Defending champion Manchester took on St Elizabeth at Manchester High School in the parish, but that match was rained out during the first innings, with Manchester facing St Elizabeth on 132 for 8.
Matches are scheduled for 9:30 am and are 50 overs a-side. Teams play in their zones on a round robin basis in the preliminary round, which comprises of five matches per team. They will then move into the knockout stage.
