Legal Eagles: Take 7
How long have you been at the firm?
Simone Bowie Jones (SBJ): Nine years.
Danielle Stiebel (DS): One year.
My hope as a young attorney is to inspire…
SBJ: …professionalism, efficiency, honesty and integrity. I also try to encourage others to pursue their passions and even if this passion lies in a non-traditional field, to always seek to be businesslike and mindful of international best practices.
DS: …others to work hard, putting integrity and excellence at the fore.
Myers, Fletcher & Gordon has a long tradition of excellence. What do you bring to the table and plan to contribute?
SBJ: A new perspective, and I plan to continue the tradition of excellence and ensure the MF&G brand resonates with a new generation. We are known as a firm that offers top-of-the-line services. However, we would like people to know that we are a flexible and accessible firm. It is important to us to always be cutting-edge and forerunners in our field.
DS: Dynamism, and I plan to contribute to the success of the firm and broaden our impact locally and internationally.
The creative industries are important to me because…
SBJ: …without them, there is no brand Jamaica. I strongly believe that there is no nation with a more creative people.
DS: …as someone heavily invoked in the arts myself, particularly musical theatre as the producer for the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company, the creative industries are important to me because they represent the natural economic drivers of this country. Jamaicans are naturally gifted in the arts and this is what attracts the rest of the world to us.
In the next 10 years, the creative industries will…
SBJ: …play an increasingly active role in the development of the Jamaican economy. As an attorney, I certainly intend to do my part in protecting Jamaica’s creative resources and its outputs.
DS: …be our primary source of revenue once given the value and management deserved.
Working on Trajectories allowed me to…
SBJ: …learn about emerging local artists. Having been here for nine years, I fell in love with the MF&G collection a long time ago. Having more of a familiarity with the masters, in building my personal art collection I have been drawn to pieces by Seya, Gene Pearson and Rodney. However, my involvement in this event has opened my eyes to the stunning work of our contemporary artists.
DS: …appreciate the immense contribution Myers, Fletcher & Gordon has made to this industry.
We look forward to seeing existing clients today (Sunday) because…
DS & SBJ: We want them to celebrate 70 amazing years with us.
