Davis dominant in boxing victory
GLASGOW, Scotland — Jamaican welterweight boxer Kesna Davis was dominant in a unanimous win over Bangladesh’s Mohammad Hossain at the Scotstoun Table Tennis Centre at the XX Commonwealth Games here yesterday.
The judges called the fight 10-9 in all three rounds of the contest in favour of the Jamaican in the preliminary rounds of action, which got underway yesterday.
Another Jamaican, Michael Gardner, will take to the ring with Zambia’s Benny Muziyo in men’s middleweight.
In men’s table tennis, Trinidad and Tobago got the better of Jamaica 3-1 in team competition.
Today, Jamaica’s badminton players will engage South Africa in mixed team group play at 9:00 am (3:00 am Jamaica time); Shaun Barnes will seek to do better on day two of the skeet men’s qualification at 9:00 am (3:00 am Jamaica time); Jamaica will tackle Barbados in women’s action in table tennis at 3:30 am Jamaica time; Dahlia Palmer will be in action on the cycle track at 5:11 am; men’s table tennis in action with Jamaica going up against Bangladesh at 6:00 am; Bianca Hernould will again be in action at the Sir Chris Velodrome, so too, Marloe Rodman and Oneil Samuels.
