Sumfest All-White Party heats up Pier One
PIER One in Montego Bay was Jamaica’s party hotspot as hundreds of patrons came out for Reggae Sumfest All-White theme party on Tuesday night.
Hot selections from the rostered disc jocks — DJ’s Crazy Neil, Smoke, Kentucky and Bambino — only served to turn up the heat inside the venue for a crowd that was clearly in the mood to party.
Patrons danced the night away pausing for ‘re-fueling’ at the bar or, for the now customary, ‘selfies’ as each DJ delivered their best hits.
Godfrey Dyer, chairman of Summerfest Productions the organisers of Reggae Sumfest, said the turnout was beyond expectation.
“We had a large number of tourists as well as locals and everyone seemed to be having fun. We have been getting reports that all the hotels are full and this was part of the original plan for Sumfest to bring tourists to Montego Bay and we are fulfilling that obligation,” Dyer told the Jamaica Observer.
Dyer said pre-sold ticket sales are higher than last year and his team was anticipating a great weekend.
Reggae Sumfest All-White Party is part of the week-long activities associated with the festival this year.
The activities continue tonight with the much-anticipated Dancehall Night at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre. Patrons are expected to see a line-up which includes Bounty Killer, Busy Signal, I-Octane, Popcaan, Assassin, and Alkaline.
The venue will also host International Night 1 on Friday with headliners Wiz Khalifa, Jason Derulo, Chronixx, Beenie Man and Jah Cure. The event culminates with International Night 2 on Saturday, which will see acts including Future, Sean Paul, Tessanne Chin, Freddie McGregor, and Sanchez.
