Manchester host Clarendon in top Confed clash
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Clarendon and Manchester will meet in the early top-of-the-table clash at the Kirkvine Sports Club in Manchester as action in the South Central Confederation Juici Patties-sponsored Under-15 football competition continues today.
In the other Under-15 game, defending champions St Catherine will look to rebound from their opening day defeat to Manchester when they host St Elizabeth at Spanish Town Prison Oval.
Both games, to be preceded by the corresponding Under-13 fixtures, are set to begin at 3:00 pm.
At Kirkvine, a victory for the hosts will give them their best ever start to the competition while also handing sole leadership to the Sheldon Davis-coached side.
Manchester upset St Catherine 2-1 on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Delverone Simpson and Tyrone Small, and will enter this mid-week match-up high on confidence. They will, however, come up against a Clarendon side whose 4-2 beating of St Elizabeth was only bettered by the St Catherine Under-13s on the opening day.
St Catherine rallied from a goal down to thrash Manchester 6-1 — highlighted by a Kimani Brown hat-trick — and are tipped to get by St Elizabeth in the Old Capital for their second win of the campaign.
St Bess were beaten 3-0 by Clarendon in their first game and, even with the competition being only two games old, will need at least a point on their travels to remain in the title race.
Clarendon, in the meantime, will look to keep pace with St Catherine when they play away to a wounded Manchester outfit.
