Manchester, St Catherine trade wins in youth football
TOLL GATE, Clarendon — Clarendon dominated the opening round of games in the South Central Confederation Juici Patties-sponsored age group competition after scoring convincing victories over St Elizabeth in both the Under-13 and Under-15 competitions.
The Garfield Carney-conditioned Under-13s blanked St Elizabeth 3-0 in the curtain raiser, before the Under-15s, coached by Garfield Robinson, outscored the ‘breadbasket parish’ 4-2 in the feature game.
Manchester highlighted Saturday’s opening round of games in the South Central Confederation Juici Patties youth leagues after upstaging St Catherine, the defending Under-15 champions, 2-1 at Juici Patties Park in Clarendon.
Meanwhile, at the same venue, St Catherine and Manchester traded victories in their contest.
In the Under-13s, St Catherine rallied from a goal down to thrash Manchester 6-1, but were denied the double after their Under-15s, the defending champions, were upstaged 2-1 by Sheldon Davis’ Manchester.
The competition, being played in a home-and-away round-robin series, continues in mid-week with a full slate of matches.
At the Kirkvine Sports Club, Manchester host Clarendon in both age groups, while St Elizabeth travel to the Spanish Town Prison Oval for a date with St Catherine.
