Netball boss happy with ‘CommGames’ squad
Netball Jamaica has announced the squad that will represent the nation at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland July 23-August 3.
The selection committee — comprising of technical director Jill McIntosh, coach Minneth Reynolds and long-time selector Patrick Brissett — has finally settled on 12 individuals after observing and analysing the broader pool of 21 players over a period of time covering the Berger Elite League, regular training sessions, squad matches, specially arranged matches and the recently concluded three-match series against Barbados at the GC Foster College.
The Sunshine Girls swept the Barbados series.
President of Netball Jamaica, Marva Bernard, said she is confindent in the team selected for the Games.
“I am very pleased with the team that has been selected, I think that the squad is a mixture of experience and youth and I am confident they will perform exceptionally well in the Commonnwealth Games.” she told the Jamaica Observer.
The Sunshine Girls are scheduled to open their Commonwealth Games account against St Lucia.
