FosRich Lifestyle opens in Mandeville
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Twenty years ago, FosRich Electrical came into being with two employees at its Kingston-based head office.
Over time, it has expanded and now has lighting and energy divisions, with 105 team members in four locations.
There are now two stores in Montego Bay — one at Cottage Road and the other at Fairview Shopping Plaza in Bogue.
The birth of FosRich Lifestyle came about last month with a 20,000sq ft store and warehouse space at 35 Ward Avenue in Mandeville.
“We try to pair a store with the area…,” Managing Director Cecil Foster told a recent meeting of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
He said that the company often delivers products in the area and with further knowledge, through research, a decision was taken to expand to Mandeville.
FosRich Lifestyle, Foster said, has a more “relaxing” feel.
He said that some fast-selling items so far are the Light-emitting Diode (LED) light bulbs, energy-saving timers for refrigerators, solar water heaters, electrical wires and breakers.
Foster said that the Mandeville store has a large outlay of products from Phillips, a company known to be an innovator in the lighting world.
He told the Jamaica Observer Central that there are plans to have a corner in the Mandeville store designated to give design and decoration ideas.
The opening of the store has provided 14 employment opportunities and Foster said that there are plans to hire a few more persons.
FosRich Lifestyle is among the new businesses established in Mandeville in recent times.
“We are here to partner with you to build an environment (that) all of us can be proud of,” Foster told the Chamber of Commerce audience.
The Manchester Chamber of Commerce has been encouraging investment in the parish, particularly since the closure of two major bauxite/alumina plants — Windalco in Manchester and Alpart in neighbouring St Elizabeth — in 2009.
