Reno are back!
MONTEGO BAY, St James — There will be two teams representing western Jamaica when the Red Stripe Premier League gets underway in August, as former three-time champions Reno FC will join Premier League champions Montego Bay United, after the Westmoreland-based outfit secured their spot at the end of the Jamaica Football Federation’s All-Island play-offs on Sunday.
Reno FC the Western Confederation Super League champions played out a gruelling 0-0 draw with contenders Jamalco FC in Clarendon on Sunday to edge them on goal difference for second place behind KSAFA champions Barbican FC, a first -time qualifier.
Barbican FC which beat Eastern Confederation champions Axum 2-1 topped the four team- tables with 11 points, while Reno FC and Jamalco FC both ended on nine points and Axum 2.
After winning the mid-season and overall Western Confederation Super League titles Reno FC won two, drew three, and lost once in the scheduled six games and finished with a goal difference of six compared to Jamalcao FC’s -1.
Both wins came at home at Frome, beating Axum 4-0 and Jamalco FC 3-0, as they managed just one goal away from home, a 2-1 loss to Barbican and drew 0-0 away to Axum FC and Jamalco FC.
After being relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2011-2012 season, Reno FC has been a model of consistency, making it to back to back finals in the Western Confederation Super League, losing on penalty kicks to Wadadah FC last season, after leading the first leg, then beating Granville United this season.
