MANDEVILLE, Manchester – It was a literary feast at the Calabash Festival in Treasure Beach, St Elizabeth from Friday, May 30 to Sunday June 1.
The biennual event attracted guests and talents from the local, regional and international scene.
Festival producer Justine Henzell, who worked along with co-founder and festival director Kwame Dawes said about 3,000 persons came out over the three days.
“It is incredibly important because it stimulates economic activity…,” she said.
Among the activities on the final day of the event, she said, were an ensemble by musicians Wayne Armond, Ibo Cooper, Steve Golding and vocalist Sharon Tucker in tribute to Jamaican music icon Judy Mowatt.
