JBA selects team for Pan Am Junior Games
THE Jamaica Badminton Association (JBA) has selected a 16-member squad to represent Jamaica at the 2014 Pan American Junior Games in Guatemala, scheduled for July 20-27.
Samuel Ricketts headlines seven males, while Katherine Wynter will lead nine females heading into the championship.
JBA’s president Robert Richards said that the team has been selected based on their ranking in local tournaments and also encourages everyone to support the players.
“These players have been selected based on their local rank in singles, doubles and mixed doubles from tournaments they played. This championship will be excellent in their preparation for the Caribbean Badminton Championships, which will be held in Jamaica on August 7-15, in which I think these players will do well.
“We encourage new partners to come onboard to help build badminton and to ensure that our athletes can participate in major tournaments,” the president noted.
Full squad: Men — Ricketts, siblings Sean and Shane Wilson, Tremar Braham, Kenneth Anglin, Adam Taylor and Zane Reid.
Women — Wynter, Jade Clarke, Christina Petri, Esther Reynolds, Aisha Gordon, Shantae Smith, Alana Bailey, Taina Daley and Shezelle McTyson.
