BarriVision prepares The Gift
PRODUCTION house BarriVision is currently shooting the final scenes for their gospel-based movie The Gift.
Written and co-directed by Judith Falloon Reid-Brown, the movie is set to be released on November 20.
“I think it will make a big impact on couples and family, especially with the (Christmas) holiday,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
Scenes for the movie have already been shot at Moxon Beach Club in St Mary, and Eleanor’s Villa and Virginia Dare Factory in the Corporate Area.
Set in Kingston, The Gift follows the life of husband-and-wife team – James and Joan Mongrove (Andrew Jones & Vanessa Clarke) – who are planning for their 20th wedding anniversary and the effects a crumbling relationship has on their kids, Toni (Vennecia Francis, 18) and Casey (Venessa Watson, 16).
Falloon Reid-Brown also appears in the movie. She plays a ‘villain’ Sandra.
“I didn’t know who to give the role to, as the character is really not a nice person, so I broke my own rule of being in front of the camera and played it,” she said.
Commenting on the budget, she said it could have run up to $3 million but thanks to sponsors, it only cost $200,000.
A trailer launch for The Gift is scheduled for the Jamaica Youth For Christ, 2 Arcadia Avenue in Kingston, on June 20.
Last year, BarriVision enjoyed success with their movie Just Another Friday. It won an award for Most Inspirational Film at the Central Florida Christian Film Festival in February.
