LIME mobile customers who travel to Brazil from June 11 to July 31 will benefit from roaming discounts of up to 50 per cent.

The telecommunications firm made the announcement on Monday which will allow LIME postpaid customers to call home at a rate of US $1.50 per minute, use mobile Internet at a rate of US $7.50 per megabyte and send SMS for US $0.20 each.

According to Garry Sinclair, CEO, the company made the decision in the spirit of enjoyment that fans visiting the ‘football nation’ expect over the next four weeks. He explained, “As Jamaica’s value network, our customers expect us to extend that value to them wherever they may roam. Our travelling customers have worked and saved hard to make the trip to Brazil, so we thought it a good thing to save them some money on the cost of keeping in touch with loved ones back home.

“The excitement for us is mounting here in Jamaica as we are also preparing to celebrate the ‘world’s greatest football event’ with football fans locally. We will be offering our customers an unmatched experience both in stores, as well as through the various activities that we will be carrying out across Jamaica,” Sinclair added.

LIME is a sponsor of the official local broadcast of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and will be hosting viewing gatherings in several sections of the island.
