Noble hunts a Summer hit
With summer truly on, it is time to party and deejay Ras Noble believes he has the songs to rock the dancefloors.
Those songs are the aptly titled Summer and Highway, both produced by Jervis Tyson for his Patwa Records label.
They are a departure from Ras Noble’s previous work which includes Violence and Crime and Was a Gangster, message songs in the roots-reggae vein.
He welcomes the change of pace with ‘Summer’ and ‘Highway’.
“It’s summer, a time to have fun, so we thought it would be great to go for a different feel,” said Ras Noble.
Born Leroy Wilson, Ras Noble is from Westmoreland, a parish that has developed a reputation as one of Jamaica’s hot summer party spots, with annual events like the ATI series in the town of Negril.
He has been recording since 2002. Most of his songs, and shows, have been in Westmoreland where he has opened for major acts such as Beenie Man and Shaggy.
In addition to ‘Summer’ and ‘Highway’ which were released in May, ‘Still in The Game’ and ‘Life’ (with Warrior King)are other recent Ras Noble recordings.
His debut album, which includes ‘Summer’, is scheduled for release later this year by Patwa Records.
