Generals capture fourth-straight LIME Cup
Advantage Generals denied Appleton Estate Buccaneers a record fourth successive hold on the LIME Cup by capturing the sixth staging of the golf tournament on Sunday at the Sandals Golf Club in Upton, St Ann.
The Advantage General team, led by Jamaica’s national team captain, Sean Morris, repeated their 2011 success by confining the three-time winners to second, ahead of ATL Springs. The LIME Lions, Red Stripe Legends and SportsMax MaxPak also participated.
Morris accepted the LIME Cup from LIME chairman Chris Dehring who was one again pleased with the tournament.
“We thank everybody, not just for their support, but for the spirit of their support,” Dehring said.
The six-team event was competed in a round-robin format over five rounds, spread over three match days.
Each team is made up of 16 male players, in four handicap flights along with four reserves, and with four female players vying for top honours via a match-play format.
The event, dubbed The LIME Cup Team Match Play Golf Tournament, started on May 4 at the Caymanas golf course then moved to Cinnamon Hill before concluding at Sandals on Sunday.
Sherece Walker captured the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the ladies with Don Anderson capturing the male category.
They, like several others, were given tablets by LIME along with trophies for their effort.
