IT is unfinished business at the CBA Auditorium tonight for Sakimo Millings and Richard Holmes, opponents who go toe-to-toe for parity in a heated quarter-final eliminator in the 2014 Wray & Nephew Contender Boxing series at approximately 9:40pm.

The evening’s action is slated to begin at about 7:30 pm with two amateur skirmishes over three rounds each. This is followed by the night’s hilarious comic relief entertainment floor show that ushers in the quarter-final six-round eliminator.

Following last Wednesday night’s debacle, although going the full distance, tonight’s clash may be cut short as the only thing either of these boxers knows how is to go for the knockdown.

Mullings is the vastly more experienced and older of the two fighting machines — is 31 years of age, stands at 5′ 8″, weighs 147 lbs, and has 13 wins and one loss from 14 fights. He will enter the ring as the favourite.

“Right now I do not see Holmes or any boxer as real competition. In season one, I had an early exit and I’m back here because I have some unfinished business and that’s to win the Contender belt.”

Holmes says he has envisioned meeting Mullings in the final, but with both clashing tonight, that is no longer a possibility.

“I’m looking forward to the match on Wednesday. I always envisioned Sakimo and myself in the final, so it is unfortunate that we’re fighting so early in the competition,” he said.

But for tonight’s meeting, he is ready and raring to go. “I have been training hard since my first fight and am ready and waiting,” said Holmes.

However, Holmes — aged 24 with five wins and three defeats and who stands at 5′ 5″ and weighs 147 lbs — has shown in his preliminary engagement that he has begun to grasp the fundamentals of the craft of prize fighting. He has shown in the past that he could take a punch, and had he been working diligently enough on his conditioning, then paying patrons at the CBA and viewers around the island would have cut themselves in for another entertaining Wednesday night at the fights.
