Wray & Nephew signs Devon Moncrieff as brand ambassador
DEVON ‘Concrete’ Moncrieff, winner of the third season of the Wray and Nephew Contender, has landed an endorsement deal from Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum.
The endorsement deal will see Moncrieff act as a brand ambassador for the Wray and Nephew White Overpoof Rum brand, starting immediately.
Cecil Smith, Group brand manager for Rums at Wray and Nephew Limited, spoke on the partnership between both parties:
“As the reigning Wray & Nephew Contender middle weight champion and one of Jamaica’s new boxing stars, it was a natural fit for Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum to sign Devon ‘Concrete’ Moncrieff as an ambassador for our brand and the sport of boxing in Jamaica. We are particularly excited about the programme that we are working on, where Devon will visit boxing gyms to give motivational speeches. This will be done for Moncrieff to impart some of his knowledge learnt in the ring to the younger hopefuls who aspire to one day make their own mark on the sport both here and abroad.”
Smith also noted that as a brand ambassador for Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum, Moncrieff’s image will also be prominently used in promotional campaigns. “If you travel along the Spanish Town Road corridor you will see Devon’s image prominently displayed as part of the promotional campaign around this season of the Wray & Nephew Contender,” he noted.
Moncrieff, who has the current titles of Jamaica’s Ultimate Middleweight Boxer and the Wray & Nephew Contender, is 37 years old, stands at 5′ 6″ and has a reach of 24 inches. He is from Glade District in Caymanas.
Speaking at a private press conference held at J Wray and Nephew Limited’s Dominica Drive corporate offices, Moncrieff expressed gratitude for the sponsorship deal:
“This signing means a lot to me as it shows that the Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum team recognises that I am a true champion. I intend to use this opportunity to do my part to further develop the sport of boxing in Jamaica.”
