LAST year’s beaten finalist Tsetsi ‘Lights Out’ Davis will open this year’s quarter-final of the Wray & Nephew Contender Boxing series against last year’s quarter-finalist Ramel ‘Sub Zero’ Lewis at the Chinese Benevolent Association tonight.

As is the norm, two amateur bouts will be carded as part of the pre-match show, along with other forms of entertainment that is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm with the main bout scheduled to begin at approximately 9:30 pm.

Davis, who felt hard done-by in last year’s final against unanimous winner Devon Moncriffe, has redoubled his effort to meet this season in his possible best fighting shape.

In so doing he has vowed to make amends for last year’s “narrow failure”. Cognisant that it’s not over until it’s over, Davis said that like anything else “the one who gets the better breaks and makes the best use of them will more than likely come out of the fight as the winner.

“At present I am rounding into decent competitive shape,” he asserted.

Davis, representing Team Jamaica, progressed to this stage of the Contender series by outpointing Team Caribbean’s Derrick ‘Dangerous’ Richmond, while Lewis, who is also representing Team Jamaica, advanced just ahead of Gardel ‘The Judge’ Roberts.

These are two hard-hitting boxers with Lewis, 10 years Davis’s junior at age 26 and packing a dangerous wallop.

Davis, who stands at 5’8″ will enter the ring at 147lbs with a ring record of nine wins against three losses and no draws, while Lewis weighs in at 147lbs and stands at 5’5″ with five wins, three losses and no draws.
