School teacher wins trip to World Cup in Scotiabank promotion
GORDON Kerr, a teacher at Cornwall College and a customer at Scotiabank Sam Sharp branch, got the surprise of his life just a day after Teacher’s Day, when he received an all-expense paid trip to the FIFA World Cup Finals in Brazil this summer.
Kerr, the second customer to receive this prize, is the runner-up in the Scotiabank “FIFA Soccer World Cup 2014” Visa Credit and Visa Debit Card Promotion.
Kerr recalls responding to a page to gather for a special presentation not knowing that the gathering was staged for him by the Scotiabank Montego Bay branch staff with the help of his Cornwall College colleagues. He was overwhelmed by the announcement as he was greeted by Branch Manager Stredic Thompson and other members of the Scotiabank team as well as specially invited guests second vice-president of the Jamaica Football Federation Bruce Gaynor and national goalkeeper coach and France 1998 World Cup veteran Warren Barrett.
Kerr is the lucky winner of a four-day, three-night trip for two to watch match #42 of the FIFA Soccer World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on June 25, 2014.
The package also incudes two category tickets to the FIFA World Cup match and return airline tickets from Montego Bay to Rio de Janeiro. As a part of the Scotiabank experience, he will also receive a pre-paid Visa Card with spending money, meet and greet airport transportation, security, ground transportation for scheduled events and tours of the city.
Thrilled and excited is how Kerr describes his feelings. “It’s going to be an experience, another stop on the map,” he noted.
The promotion showcased the value and benefit of using Visa Debit ScotiaCard and Scotiabank Visa Credit Cards as primary methods of payment. Cardholders earned a ballot for every J$6,500 they swiped between February 1 and March 26, 2014. A Visa Debit ScotiaCard is issued with all new Scotiabank savings accounts.
