Predictions spot on
THEY did it. The actors got it right.
In a poll conducted by the Jamaica Observer which asked other actors to predict who would go home with the Actor Boy Awards in the various categories ahead of Monday’s ceremony, was spot on.
The poll r esults showed veteran actor Glen Campbell would take the trophy for Best Actor in a Lead Role for his work in If There’s A Will There’s a Wife; Nadean Rawlins would win best lead actress for Departure in the Dark; Christopher McFarlane would be the winner for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for To The Finish and Sakina Deer would top the supporting actress category for her performance in If There’s A Will There’s a Wife.
The actors were again correct when they predicted that Jambiz International’s Ladies of the Night would be named Best Production.
Speaking to the Jamaica Observer, an excited Deer, who has been nominated on five previous occasions, indicated that her joy was somewhat bittersweet.
“It’s not for the show I expected to win for. It was a fight to get this character right… lots of tears and many sleepless nights as I knew I could do better. So I felt I had a better shot at the award with Ladies of the Night. But I am happy.”
An elated Nadean Rawlins said: “It feels so good… I am happy for everyone.”
