Game of Thrones fans get royal treatment
TO celebrate the premiere episode of the HBO medieval hit series Game of Thrones, cable operator Flow held an invitation only screening at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston, St Andrew, on Sunday.
“The show is not only one of the top shows watched on Flow, its one of the top shows in the island rivaling programmes like Scandal,” Donovan White, vice-president of marketing and sales at Columbus Communications Jamaica Ltd, told the Jamaica Observer.
The event was one of several taking place simultaneously across the eight territories where Flow operates including Trinidad, Barbados, Grenada and Curacao.
Flow made sure it was a full on experience from beginning to end. Guests were greeted at the entrance by maidens in costumes, and then given the chance to take their picture sitting in a replica throne provided by HBO Studios.
Once inside, food befitting a King and in theme with the show was on hand leading up to the 8:00 pm premiere episode, Two Swords.
Host Paula-Ann Porter kept things lively with multiple giveaways of Flow and Game of Thrones swag.
“I’m a big fan of the show. I’ve been watching from the start and even read the books,” said Natalia Whyte, one of the winners of a Game of Thrones DVD set.
After the screening, lucky members of the audience received certificates for a month of free HBO service.
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created for HBO by David Benioff and DB Weiss, adapted from a series of fantasy novels from author George RR Martin.
