H’View, Arnett clash in rescheduled RSPL match
Reigning champions Harbour View FC and hosts Arnett Gardens FC will highlight today’s rescheduled matches in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) football competition.
The clash is set to start at 6:00 pm at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
Harbour View, in second place on 43 points from 25 matches, trail Montego Bay United — who have played a game extra — by two points.
Fresh from being dumped out of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship on home soil, Harbour View finished in a 2-2 draw with Tivoli Gardens FC in their live televised RSPL matchup on Monday night.
Former champions Arnett Gardens, sitting in the pivotal fourth place with 38 points from 26 outings, scored a vital 2-1 win over struggling local giants Portmore United in the previous round.
In the other rescheduled game at 3:30 pm today, relegation-threatened August Town FC (24 points) welcome Waterhouse FC (43), who are behind Harbour View only on an inferior goal difference.
Waterhouse, convincing while progressing in the CFU tournament, ended 2-2 against Humble Lion FC on their return to the island, and are heavily tipped to beat August Town at the University of the West Indies Mona Bowl playing field.
August Town, wallowing in cellar position, lost 0-1 to Rivoli United in their last outing.
The top four teams at the end of the preliminary phase advance to the semi-final stage.
