Girlz ambassador Marley to meet Blatter, Webb
Cedella Marley, the daughter of globally-recognised king of reggae Bob Marley, will be a special guest of JFF president Captain Horace Burrell at the third place play-off and final of theFIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica tomorrow.
In the consolation game, Venezuela will tackle Italy, while Spain take on Japan in the championship match.
Marley, who was recently appointed ambassador of the Reggae Girlz, will be introduced in her new capacity to FIFA president Joseph ‘Sepp’ Blatter annnd CONCACAF boss Jeffrey Webb.
“It gives me an opportunity to observe the top level of talent inCONCACAF and also envision what it will be like when the Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz are on that field in future tournaments,” Marley was quoted in a JFF release yesterday.
The CEO of the Marley music group is expected to travel with a delegation of US media representatives as she seeks to take advantage of all possible platforms to increase support and awareness for Jamaica’s women’s football programme.
