Big boost
Scotiabank Jamaica has renewed its sponsorship of the nation’s national Under-14 and Under-16 netball teams to the tune of $12 million to be disbursed over three years, it was announced recently.
The first disbursement will be for $5 million. The announcement was made last Thursday at the bank’s head office in Kingston, by Monique Todd, VP Marketing, Public and Corporate Affairs.
The bank also presented team gear to the Under-16 team management for the players who will depart this Friday for the upcoming Jean Pierre U16 tournament in Antigua starting next Sunday.
According to Todd, “the decision to renew our sponsorship to the teams was an easy one based on the passion, dedication and effort that Netball Jamaica continues to invest, not only in the sport but in the personal development of the young players. We are indeed proud to play a part in the growth and success of netball in Jamaica.”
Marva Bernard, president of Netball Jamaica, was very appreciative of the bank’s renewed sponsorship of the teams. This year marks the institution’s seventh year of sponsorship to date. According to her, “I am sure that this sponsorship will continue to have significant mutual benefits to the bank and us.”
Scotiabank has been supporting the national Under-14 and Under-16 teams with local and regional initiatives, including the Birmingham Exchange Programme and the Junior Umpires Programme for several years.
