Netball Jamaica, Pitterson-Nattie part company
HEAD coach Oberon Pitterson-Nattie and Netball Jamaica have parted company after both parties failed to reach an agreement on a new contract, the sport’s local governing body has revealed.
In a release to the media yesterday, it was noted that the parties failed to resolve “certain issues with the new contract” for Pitterson-Nattie during a lengthy emergency meeting attended by president Marva Bernard and members of the board of directors of Netball Jamaica on Monday.
Bernard expressed disappointment that the issues could not have been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties and stated further that at this crucial juncture, with the Commonwealth Games only four months away, she was saddened that a mutually satisfactory resolution was not possible.
Pitterson-Nattie has been head coach for the Sunshine Girls since 2011 when she replaced former national player Connie Francis.
According to the release, prior to this impasse the relationship between Pitterson-Nattie and Netball Jamaica was solid with expectations high that major improvements were targeted for the Sunshine Girls’ next international encounter.
The team will now be under the guidance of assistant coach Minneth Reynolds and strength and conditioning coach Roy Thomas.
