‘Tommy’ Lee shines at Guardian General Insurance Flights Classic
DAY one of the Guardian General Insurance Flights Classic saw the top players in Jamaican golf showcasing their skills at the Caymanas Golf & Country Club.
William ‘Tommy’ Lee shot 72 to take the lead in the 0-6 category with only three birdies in his round. Rory ]Jardine shot 74 and is also competing in the 0-6 category. Jardine is currently the senior with the lowest score. Sean Morris is next in line with 78, followed by Jamaica Golf Association (JGA) president Wayne Chai Chong, who also had 78. Greg Chong and Easton Williams had identical scores of 79.
Phillip Gooden is at the top of the 7-11 category with 78. UTech scholarship student Kemar Brown and Dr Mark Newnham are in second with 83.
Fred Sutherland is leading the super senior group with 76. Next in line are Maurice Foster and Philip Wilson with 81. In the 13-18 category, Paul Moses is out front with 86.
Jodi Barrow’s first round of 72 included four birdies, which puts her ahead of Michele Gabay, who is lying in second with 84. Junior golfer Kei Harris is third.
Romaine Evans shot 79 to take control of the boys’ 16-17 group.
The national junior representatives in the 11-13 competition teed off in fine style with Sebert Walker Jr shooting 77, which placed him six shots ahead of Justin Burrowes in the boys’ 11-13 group.
Sherisse Walker shot 86 in the 16-17 girls’ group.
