Bicknell defeats Riley to advance
JACOB Bicknell defeated Mivkel Riley to advance to the next round of the 2014 General Accident Insurance Men’s Class One Open Tennis Championships at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston on Wednesday night.
Bicknell had to come from a set down before beating his opponent in a super tie-breaker 2-6, 7-5 (10-6 tie-breaker).
Other Class One results saw Blaise Bicknell gaining a walkover against Adam Harris; Adam Spence also gained a walkover against Dane Vernon; Daniel Gyles beat Barry Hazel 7-5, 6-4; Richard Blake cruised past Yussuf Migoko 6-0, 6-1; Jovaughn Mullings came from a set down to beat Julius Biggs 6-7, 97-4), 6-3, (10-7 super tie-breaker).
Results of matches played in Class Two on Wednesday night were: Roger Lyn beat Neville Claire 7-6, 6-4; David Thompson defeated Marlon Brown 6-1, 6-3; Sheldon McDonald beat Rudolph Jackson Jr 3-6, 6-4 (10-5 super tie-breaker).
Leopold Fungsang gained a walkover against David Issacs; Howard Powell gained a walkover against Jason Allen; Mark Gibbs had a walkover in his fixture against Gordon Chuck, while Carlington Burrell had a walkover against Michael Lyncook in Class Two.
