Melbourne take aim at top of St James Senior League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Melbourne FC could be the new leaders of Zone A of the St James Football Association’s Sandals/ATL/Honda Senior League when they face Montego bay United Under-21 in the first game of a triple header at Jarrett Park this afternoon, set to start at 3:00 pm as the competition resumes after a week-long break.
Melbourne FC, beaten finalists four seasons ago, are in third place, tied with second-placed Fogo United, both on seven points, one behind leaders Reggae Youths.
Montego Bay United’s Under-21 have yet to record a win after three games and are on one point and yet to score a goal.
Joseph Scott has scored two of Melbourne’s five goals so far and is expected to lead their attack in today’s game against a Montego Bay United Under-21 team made up of mostly high school players.
In the other two games, Seba FC and Revelation FC will seek to keep Little Miami and Salt Spring from winning their first games when the teams meet in the 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm games, respectively.
Seba FC are in third place in Zone B on five points and a win would see them tie with leaders Violet Kickers on points at the top of the tables.
Seba FC, who were finalists last season when they played as North Gully Ambassadors, are coming off their first win, a 2-1 defeat of Revelation FC after drawing their first two games.
Little Miami, finalists two times in the last three seasons, are off to a slow start and has just a point to show from their three games and have conceded eight goals.
Salt Spring United are also off to a slow start and Revelation — who lost to Seba FC in the league and Western Confederation Super League team Wadadah in the Knockout — will hope they can rebound against them today.
