Poetry at Red Bones
FOR many people, Blossom O’Meally-Nelson is a respected educator and Jamaica’s first female postmaster general.
But recently, the 2010 Business Observer nominee showed her literary profile with a satisfying performance at Red Bones Blues Café in St Andrew.
O’Meally-Nelson entertained with poems from her anthology, Heart of a Song: Poems of My Transformation. Her pieces included On The Verge, The Call, Soft Velvet Hills and Dust. She touched a range of issues in language the average person can relate to.
Her younger counterparts also did well. Esquire hit the mark with Mis-infamous, Contested Souls and Religion, which earned him Poem of the Year in Red Bones’ 2013 season.
Mavrick Webb and Black Hustle were also well-received with their delivery of The Poet Silhouette, Christmas and Journey, respectively.
The Red Bones series continues next Wednesday.
