Mas Camp Makeover
ORGANISERS of this year’s Bacchanal Jamaica promise eight weeks of invigorating fun and fete.
The season kicks off March 7 at New Mas Camp in St Andrew. Now in its 14th staging, this year’s theme is Conquest and Surrender.
“The favourite events are back and the opening will be all Jamaican, featuring a clash among selectors DJ Smoke, Sanjay and Richie Ras,” said Bacchanal Jamaica director, Michael McMorris during Tuesday’s launch at Knutsford Court Hotel in St Andrew.
He also spoke about changes to the Mas Camp venue which hosted most of the season’s event.
“VIP patrons will have their area upgraded while an actual dancefloor will be implemented in the general area,” McMorris said.
Opening night will be followed by the popular Socacise Mondays and Wednesdays.
On March 28, there will be a live performance by Trinidad and Tobago’s Roy Cape All Stars featuring Blaxx. The soca singers are known for songs like Leh Go and Breathless.
On April 11, Trinidad’s soca queen Destra Garcia brings the curtain down on Bacchanal Fridays. That evening, revellers head to James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St Mary for Smirnoff Beach J’Ouvert where headliners are soca power couple Bunji Garlin and Faye-Ann Lyons.
Come April 18, the party returns to Mas Camp for Bacchanal J’Ouvert with another Trinidadian act, Kes the Band.
The season concludes on April 27 with its Road March.
