Harmony, Kinloss take early lead in Trelawny football
DUNCANS, Trelawny — Former champions Harmony FC and Kinloss FC are the leaders in their respective zones at the end of the first round of the Trelawny Football Association Monymusk White Overproof Rums Major League.
Harmony FC, who were relegated from the Western Confederation Super League at the end of the previous season, are on 10 points from their five games in Zone One followed by Salt Marsh United on eight, Classic United on seven, Coopers Pen and Bunkers Hill on five each, and Clarks Town on four points.
Kinloss FC won four of their five games to lead Zone Two with 12 points, two more than Wakefield All-Stars and Prospect Links on 10 each with last season’s beaten finalists Spicy Hill on nine, Flames further back on three points, and Invaders yet to score a point, losing all five games by 1-0 margins.
Invaders’ most recent loss came on Sunday when Spicy Hill edged them in their game at Wakefield as Damin Williams scored in the 38th minute to take the goalscoring lead with three goals.
On Saturday, Kinloss FC took over the lead in Zone Two with a 1-0 win over Flames FC at Sea-Road in Duncans.
Gervent Dixon scored a late goal, in the 86th minute for Kinloss, as they scored their fourth win.
Renaldo Scott’s 81st minute goal earned Prospect Links a 1-1 draw with Wakefield All-Stars, who had got the lead from Akeem Graham in the fourth minute.
In the other game played on Saturday, Classic United and Clarks Town also drew 1-1. Lupton Haughton scored to give Clarks Town the lead in the 16th minute, while Omario Brown levelled for Classic in the 38th minute.
