Phillips to give answers on Finsac enquiry today
THE evasive issue of the final report of the Commission of Enquiry into the 1990s financial meltdown, popularly referred to as the Finsac Commission, should be known today.
Minister of Finance and Planning Dr Peter Phillips will answer a one-line question from Opposition Member of Parliament Gregory Mair (North East St Catherine), for “the minister to advise “when the FINSAC Commission of Enquiry Report will be tabled in the Parliament”.
The Finsac Enquiry was set up in 2009, under the previous Jamaica Labour Party Government to uncover the circumstances which led to the collapse of local financial institutions in the 1990s. However, since it ended public meetings in November 2011 no report on its findings has been tabled.
