Spot Valley blast Brimmervale in U16 basketball
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Spot Valley High rebounded from back-to-back losses in the Under-16 section of the ISSA/KFC All-Island high schoolboys basketball competition with a big 105-11 trouncing of Brimmervale High at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Friday.
The Western Conference champions had won their first game against DeCarteret College, but then lost back-to-back games against Glenmuir High at home and against Ardenne High on Wednesday.
On Friday, Jhamonique Brown scored 45 points to lead them on a rampage against an overwhelmed Brimmervale High, who were losing their fourth game and have not scored more than 17 points in any of the play-offs games so far.
Brimmervale High scored just one point in the first quarter, four in the second and six in third before being shut out in the fourth with Antonio Murphy scoring eight points.
Shamar Bucknor scored 27 points and had seven assists to support Brown in Spot Valley’s big win.
Also on Friday, William Knibb Memorial, who had also lost back-to-back games after winning their first, got a walk over win after Dinthill High failed to show up for their Under-19 game.
