Reggae Youths register second-straight win in Senior League
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Reggae Youths scored their second straight win of the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL/Honda Senior League competition to jump into the lead in Zone A after blanking Catherine Hall 3-0 at the UDC Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The win carried Reggae Youths to seven points from three games, same as Melbourne FC, but with a better goal difference and one point ahead of Catherin Hall and Fogo United.
The loss was the second in a row for Catherine Hall after they won their first two games to start the season.
An own goal gave Reggae Youths the lead in the 37th minute, while Javian Bailey who had scored all six goals in their win over Seaview last week, doubled the lead in the 49th minute.
Ian McDonald’s first goal of the season, coming in the 64th minute, sealed the win for Reggae Youths.
Fogo United moved into third place, on goal difference over Catherine Hall after a 4-1 come-from-behind whipping of Seaview at Flankers as Okeefe Brown scored twice.
Brown’s first goal levelled the scores after Obrian Warren had given Seaview the lead in the 39th minute, while Obrian Street’s 68th minute goal gave Fogo the lead.
Brown added his second and his team’s third in the 78th minute, while Richard James added a fourth in the 85th minute.
Meanwhile, at the Wyndham grounds, Violet Kickers came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Lilliput Rovers to move to eight points at the top of Zone Two.
Cheves Campbell gave the home team the lead after 38 minutes, but Rayon Binns extended this scoring run to three straight games when he scored in the 70th minute to earn a point for his team.
