Members of Bustamante High School’s Environmental Club and their advisor and coach Dilip Ragoo (third right) gather for a group shot on the banks of Salt River with the Braselletto Mountains rising in the background, after beating Old Harbour High at a debate last Friday.
The debate was part of activities put on by the Caribbean Coastal Area Management (CCAM) Foundation to observe World Wetlands Day — which is celebrated on February 2 every year — and was hosted at the CCAM field station at the Monymusk Gun, Rod & Tiller Club in Salt River, Clarendon.
In keeping with the theme — Wetlands & Agriculture: Partners for Growth — Bustamante argued that a greater percentage of Jamaica wetlands should be converted to agriculture to increase the country’s productivity.
