Corporate Area police charge 7 men for murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reported late Monday that since the start of this year the Kingston and St Andrew Major Investigation Taskforce (KSA MIT) has charged seven men for five murders.
Two of these murders were committed in January, another two in February and the other in June 2012 the JCF’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said in a release.
The KSA MIT, which is responsible for investigating murders committed across the Corporate Area, charged the following men:
• Andre Brown, otherwise called ‘Saskie’, a 29-year-old of Bentley Lane in Kingston 13. He is charged for the murder of an unidentified male on June 4, 2012 about 9:15 pm at the corner of Penwood and Bay Farm roads in Kingston 11;
• Junior Powell, otherwise called ‘Fat Jaw’, a 23-year-old of Patrick Drive in Kingston 20. He is charged for the murder of Leon Harriot, otherwise called ‘Sleepy’, on February 3, 2014;
• Rohan Derby, otherwise called ‘Kaka Rune’, a 35-year-old mason of Shooters Hill in 7-Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew, was charged on February 5, 2014, for the murder of 40-year-old Hubert Johnson at Taylor Land, also in Bull Bay, on January 22, 2014;
• Chaquille McDonald, otherwise called ‘Kevin’ and ‘Biggs’, an 18-year-old of Foster Lane, Kingston, was charged on January 26, 2014, for the murder of Sean Clough on the same day.
• Fabian Wellington, otherwise called ‘Ben’, 26-year-old of Foster Lane in Kingston is also charged for the murder of Sean Clough on January 26.
• Duran Knight, otherwise called ‘Froggy’, ‘Blackie’ and ‘Pops’, a 27-year-old higgler of Shooters Hill, 7-Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew, is charged jointly with Derby for the murder of Hubert Johnson. Knight also faces an additional charge for the murder of Davian Romeo Beckford, also of a Shooters Hill address; and,
• Marv McLaughlin, otherwise called ‘Indian’, a 27-year-old of Hibiscus Drive, St Thomas, who is also charged for the murder of Beckford.
