Singer Denyque new host of Monday Night Football
RED Stripe Premier League Monday Night Football returns today and fans will be singing a new song as entertainer Denyque will be the new host of the interactive show, and will make her debut when Arnett Gardens host Montego Bay United at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex at the new time of 8:30 pm.
Denyque, 24, who broke onto the scene as an 11-year-old when she captured gold at the Jamaica National Festival song with a wonderful rendition of Whitney Houston’s Where Do Broken Hearts Go.
She has replaced last season’s co-hosts Rosanne ‘Pepita’ Little and Stephanie Hazle. At the inception, the show was hosted by Kiki.
“One of the things Denyque brings to it is mainly charm. She is great with people, great with interaction and I think she is going to bring a beautiful face to the screen as well as an amazing personality that persons are going to get to really discover during the season,” said Jomo Cato, Red Stripe’s head of marketing.
“She has also voiced a fantastic song for the league. We are benefitting from a musical talent as well as her personality and we are pretty excited about the partnership,” he added.
The Diageo-owned Red Stripe had come to the rescue of the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA) in 2011 after telecommunications provider Digicel ended a three-year $150-million deal, and so far there are no noted regrets with increase in sales over the first two years.
“The introduction of the play-off system we know is going to add a lot more excitement to the current league. We know that the fans want excitement straight down to the end. They want to have play-off situations and a final,” noted Cato.
Arnett Gardens, who have been involved in some of the most enthralling Monday Night games, will host Montego Bay United at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex at 8:30 tonight. Arnett Gardens on 27 points are in fourth spot, while St James outfit Montego Bay United are second on 32.
There will be at least six viewing parties where fans can chill and watch the match at Cuddy’z, Gee Wee, Father Bull, Movie Star Lounge, Chillers, and Blue Grass Pub.
Red Stripe special deals will be available along with several giveaways at these venues.
“Red Stripe Monday is built around television. It’s viewing whether you are at the bar or at home. What we are simply doing is leveraging what is a great show to our partners who operate bars across Jamaica,” said Cato.
“A lot of persons go to bars for the World Cup, Super Bowl and on Monday nights, we feel we have a product that will increase sales at our outlets,” he added.
On the ground at match venues, the usual specials on Red Stripe along with the pan chicken will again feature prominently during match time along with added entertainment.
