JN helping young people to find the WAY
ISE Aspiring Youths (WAY), the catchphrase and acronym of Jamaica National Building Society’s new programme dubbed, JN WAY, unveiled at a launch party last Wednesday at the Fiction Nightclub.
JN Building Society is urging young Jamaicans to acquire better money management skills not just to secure a stable financial future but also to contribute to the development of the financial and productive sectors.
A sweet deal tailored for young people, JN WAY consists of a complement of financial products and services to suit the needs and goals of young people between 12 and 35 years. This programme will be offering two special savings accounts to tertiary students — the JN WAY and My Goal accounts.
Tertiary students can open their JN WAY accounts with as little as $500 and the My Goal accounts with only $1,000. Along with these accounts, holders will be able to access a 20 per cent discount on driving lessons from the Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA), which is a member of the JN Group. But, it does not stop there. Holders will also get discounts at selected merchants.
“So what we are trying to do is to help young people to be independent and powerful and to stir this young generation towards the benefits and opportunities of having a financial plan,” the words of Earl Jarret, general manager of JN Building Society, who spoke to a room abuzz with young people. He gave encouraging words about developing healthy saving habits as young people, especially since we are the leaders of tomorrow.
Jason McNeish, JNBS youth marketing and digital media officer, shared with teenAGE the inspiration behind JN WAY.
“Youths are the future for tomorrow, and while the youths might not have the finances now that other financial institutions would want to go after, we need to develop a relationship and we are in the business of building loyalty in the youth market. We want young people to know that Jamaica National is a place that is comfortable and friendly for them.”
JN WAY is supported by another programme that was recently established by JNBS, the JN Youth Ambassador Programme, where 25 young people were selected from tertiary institutions across Jamaica, to promote JN Group products and services among their peers.
“It’s new, it’s innovative, it’s fresh! And the opening account balance of $500 is very affordable for the youth market,” Aaron Ramsey, a JN youth ambassador from the University of the West Indies, shared with us his thoughts on the JN WAY programme.
Coming up under the JN WAY programme is the JN WAY School Tour so students can look forward to JN WAY rolling into their auditoriums soon. In addition, there will be an app competition in which students will be asked to conceptualise a savings app for JN along with a marketing plan for the app, all in a bid to win a cash prize of $250,000.
Until then, JN Building Society encourages all young people out there to take better charge of their financial life and develop better money management skills, and what better way than to open a JN WAY Account.
