Violet Kickers take charge in St James football
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Violet Kickers came from behind to outscore Little Miami 3-2 at Jarrett Park on Friday evening and take over the lead in Zone B of the St James
Football Association Sandals/ATL/Honda Senior League.
Rayon Binns scored his second straight double to lead Violet Kickers to back-to-back wins, while extending Little Miami’s winless run to three games.
Also on Friday, former champions Fogo United and promoted Lilliput Rovers had their first wins of the season, by 1-0 margins over Montego Bay United Under-21 and Salt Sprint United, respectively, also at Jarrett Park.
Little Miami led at half-time in their game against Violet Kickers through a Dwayne Hemmings 22nd-minute goal.
Philando Burnett brought Violet Kickers level from the penalty spot in the 67th minute, but the lead changed hands twice in a frenetic five minutes that saw three goals.
Binns scored the first of his double in the 71st to give Violet Kickers the lead, but Androcle Poyser equalised for Little Miami in the
75th minute.
Binns hit back a minute later with the final goal of the game as Violet Kickers moved to seven points, two more than Seba FC and Lilliput Rovers. Revelation FC are next on four points with Salt Spring United and Little Miami both on one point each.
Kemar Reynolds scored in the 48th minute to give Lilliput Rovers their first win after two draws.
Fogo United also had their first win thanks to a 35th-minute goal from the veteran Alme McFarlane, as they handed MBU Under-21 their second loss in three games.
