Trinidad to host beach volleyball qualifiers
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — Trinidad and Tobago will play host to one of eight women’s groups of the Norceca Continental Cup beach volleyball qualifiers leading to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in June.
The twin-island republic will host Group C of the qualifiers involving Bahamas, Dominica and Turks & Caicos from June 20-23 at Maracas Beach.
Overall, 56 beach volleyball male and female tournaments are scheduled to be played this year.
In the first round, 32 countries have been distributed into eight pools of four teams in both genders, according to their rankings.
The top three teams of each pool will move to a second phase of six four-team pools later this year, while the fourth-placed teams will play in a consolation round in 2015 to stay in competition.
The second phase of the Norceca Continental Cup qualifiers takes place in August, September and December.
