Muschett stun KC in ISSA/KFC basketball
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Western Conference runners-up Muschett High surprised Southern Conference champions Kingston College 90-72 as both teams opened their accounts in the Under-19 section of the ISSA/KFC all-island basketball play-offs at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Friday.
Despite a game-high 29 points from Kingston College’s Clifton Jean, the Western Conference team snapped a two-game losing skid to win by a comfortable 18-point margin.
Muschett were not as lucky in the Under-16 game, however, as they were beaten 86-19 by Southern Conference champions St George’s College in the first game.
Tafari Simms scored 34 points to lead St George’s to their massive win, as they led Muschett 28-5, 52-13 and 71-17 at the intervals.
In the Under-19 game, after being swept by William Knibb in the Western Conference best-of-three finals, Muschett bounced back with a good win as Daniel Scott had his best game of the season, scoring 23 points, while Karlington Barrett scored 20 points and had eight rebounds to lead their team to the win.
